why doesn’t anybody make movie posters like this still fuckin christ

Iron Fist was created in 1974, to cash in on the kung-fu craze that happened in the seventies. Iron Fist, along with Luke Cage and several other characters all fit various molds of movie genre that were popular at the time.
That’s a pretty important thing to know, and even though many writers tried to separate his character from the movies that essentially spawned him, it’s Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction’s run on the character that took advantage of the best elements those movies could in turn provide some of the characters best elements.
Listen to me, and listen to me well: Iron Fist is a character that needs a bigger spotlight. Just because his roots and personality are so startlingly different from what we’ve come to expect. Daniel Rand is a character who’s being was created by tragedy, yet it never did wholly define him like Batman or Spider-Man. He wasn’t very good at the whole brooding thing, he started Heroes for Hire and his best friends catchphrase is “Sweet Christmas!” come on.
He got his revenge, but he didn’t need to put on a cowl for it. Daniel Rand is still the Iron Fist in the comic books because he enjoys it. Being Iron Fist is a sacred duty, and one the character wears with pride.
When the two writers start expertly playing around with the circumstances that created Danny’s motivations, the book travels into his backstory, establishing the “we’re-not-so-different” feeling with his villain, Steel Serpent. The writing team handles his back story wonderfully, in the Iron Fist series it not only serves as Danny’s, but a whole handful of other characters that we eventually see again.
Playing back on itself, events that are referenced in the beginning also come to a close near the end, tying the story together nicely.
The Iron Fists immortal legacy is one of death and war. Daniel Rand in the book even outright accepts that the entire purpose of the Iron Fist was to die young and in battle, against insurmountable odds.
